How To Reply to Blog Comments from an Email Notification

Perhaps you commented on a blog post and now you have received an email telling you that someone else has replied to your comment on that blog – HOW do you then reply back to them?

Firstly, you do NOT just click “Reply” to that email and type out your response. If you do that, no one will ever see your return comment. Instead, you have to click-through to the original blog post and leave your reply on that same website/blog again.

I’m going to show you step-by-step (with pictures!) how to do that on a WordPress blog (the #1 blogging software) – keep in mind though that most blog’s comments work in a very similar manner.

This may seem like a very simple procedure to those who grew up in the digital age, but to people new to blogging, or computers, it is not so intuitive!

See the link at the bottom of the “New Comment” email you received, it will look something like this:

Go ahead and click that blue link in the email you received.

Clicking that link, brings you to here on the blog post (keep in mind, this is our example) – this is the COMMENTS section of whichever post you commented on:

Now scroll down until you find the comment you want to reply to – in this case it is Tina Turner’s comment:

Now scroll down to the END of Tina’s comment on the blog and click the “REPLY” button, which looks like this:

Note: If you were not replying to Tina’s comment, but just wanted to leave a NEW comment, then you would fill in the fields under “LEAVE A REPLY” instead.

After you click REPLY, this is what you will see:

– So type in your comment in the box provided (or copy/paste it in)

– fill in your name, email (won’t be shown publicly) and website

– tick the checkbox for “Notify me of followup comments via e-mail” if you want to be tagged when someone replies to your comment

– tick the box to “Confirm you are NOT a spammer”

– tick “Yes, add me to your mailing list” if you are not already a subscriber to the blog. If you already receive the blog’s newsletter with new posts, or if you don’t want to, then leave it unchecked.

This is what it will look like filled out (for example):

Then you just click the “POST COMMENT” button and you’re done!

Once you know how to do this, you can post a comment on ANY WordPress blog on the internet with ease. Most other blogging platforms, like Blogger, Weebly, Blogspot, etc. work in a very similar manner.

I’m curious to find out what blog system you are using? I’m experiencing some small security issues with my latest blog and I would like to find something more risk-free. Do you have any recommendations?

WordPress for sure! BUT you must make sure you either manually update to every new version, or set it up to automatically update. These updates are what continuosly fix security bugs or windows hackers have found to slip through.
